I’m going through an artistic crisis.
This is not something new, though – I actually go through phases like that a lot. I believe there’s nothing better than these crisis for me to revaluate where my style is going to and whether it reflects what I am or not.
I’ve never believed that the style of an artist should be static, and I admire those who are able to let their style evolve and develop over the time and yet, keep its essence.
When I’m not working on a commissioned illustration, I notice that I tend to keep my drawings simpler, with less details. Besides the need to become more efficient and spend less time to finish an illustration, I also fell that when I complete a drawing with fewer lines, the result is often more whimsical and sweet in a way. Have anyone else also noticed that?
So, I realize I need (and want) to practice more! That’s why I’ve decided to start the 365 Drawing Project (started by Sarah Jane).
My goal is to post everyday (except weekends) on my Fanpage and my Instagram (which I just created) starting this Monday and will show them on my blog
every Friday by the end of each month. The drawings can be doodles, sketches, paintings or rendered… but there will be something.
